Navigator IC Questionnaire Checklist

Navigator IC is designed to help you determine the risk of classifying a worker as an independent contractor. This solution uses a questionnaire to gather information about the engagement, the work, the contractor, and the company’s relationship with the contractor that is then used to complete the risk assessment. We have developed the checklist below to help you, or those you assign a questionnaire to, be prepared to complete the Navigator IC questionnaire. We recommend gathering the following information before beginning the questionnaire.

Engagement Details

• Length of engagement
• Amount to be paid and how it will be paid
• Details on who will cover business-related expenses
• Who has rights to terminate the agreement

Work Details

• Importance of the work
• Level of training or experience needed to perform the work
• If there are employees performing the same or similar work

Contractor Details

• Annual amount earned and percentage that is anticipated to come from the company
• Number of employees and benefits provided to employees
• Details of advertising, location, and investment in their work

Company’s Relationship with the Contactor

• Contractor’s past employment with the company
• Benefits provided by the company to the contractor
• Training and discipline of the contractor
