Overtime Resources at a Glance

Overtime is and always will be a popular topic. Not only do you have to weigh the risks of classifying an employee as exempt or non-exempt, but there are so many other details to consider, such as handbook policies about timecards, meal and rest break regulations, and employee bonuses and gifts, just to name a few. In response to questions prompted by our recent webinar “Overtime - What Employers Need to Know Today,” we worked with Littler to put together “What Employers Need to Know About Overtime: Top 12 Q&A’s.” We also wanted to provide a quick visual on some of the resources we provide to help you efficiently navigate the topic of overtime.

Don’t Leave Staying Up to Date to Luck

As we’ve mentioned before, 2023 is a busy year with many employment law updates. In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, we wanted to remind you of some of the resources available to help you stay up to date, so you don’t feel like you’re leaving it to luck!

ComplianceHR Reference Center and Platform: We continually work with Littler, the world’s largest labor and employment law firm, to make sure our content is as up to date as possible. If you have a question, it’s always best to refer back to the Reference Center (or your saved content smart links) or your ComplianceHR Platform to ensure you are referencing the most current content. As we continue to update the reports on the Reference Center, more topics will include the content smart link feature.

PolicySmartTM News: In addition to the helpful PolicySmart News page, where you can view, filter, and create calendar reminders for updates that will be going into effect, there is a monthly email that summarizes the updates that have been made on PolicySmart. If you would like more information about this email, please contact us at support@compliancehr.com.

ComplianceHR Webinars: We try to host at least one webinar discussing a current employment topic that may be of interest to you each month. Be sure to watch your inbox for invitations to these free webinars. You can check out our past webinars here.

Littler News & Analysis: We are working to grow the number of topics available to you on ComplianceHR. If you would like to learn more about employment law news for topics we are yet to cover, we encourage you to check out Littler’s News & Analysis page.

As always, if you have any technical or content-related questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at support@compliancehr.com.

2023 New Year Highlights: Part 1 of 2

Happy New Year! We hope you had a wonderful holiday season with some time off to relax and enjoy your favorite things. Now, it’s back to work and time to catch up on some of the employment law updates that rolled in with the new year. As we mentioned last month, there were quite a few updates that took effect, so the next two blog posts will be focused on reviewing some of these updates.

Minimum Wage Report
The new year always ushers in new minimum wage rates. Be sure to check out your jurisdictions in our Minimum Wage report to see if there are updates. If you use the Reference Center to access the Minimum Wage report, you will be able to use our new content smart links which allow you to create links that you can save or share.

Navigator Leave Forms
Our Navigator Leave Forms have been updated to include California’s expansion of the definition of “family member” to include a designated person. These changes affected the Request for Leave, Notice of Eligibility, and Designation Notice forms. Navigator Leave forms are accessible through the Navigator Leave card.

Navigator Leave Rapid Reference
If you have questions about permissible reasons for leave and California’s updated family member definition, be sure to check out the Navigator Leave Rapid Reference, accessible through the Reference Center and the Navigator Leave card. This solution also has some additional information about Colorado’s Paid Family and Medical Leave, found under Use of Paid Time Off Benefits.

Paid Sick Leave Report
Check out the Paid Sick Leave report to see updated information on payment of leave for Colorado’s Paid Family and Medical Leave. This is also a great opportunity to check out the new Paid Sick Leave report, accessible through the Navigator Leave card and through the Reference Center, where you will find extra features.

Navigator Onboarding
If you are in Colorado, you are now required to provide notification about the state’s paid family and medical leave program. Our Offer Letter, accessible through Navigator Onboarding, has been updated with verbiage regarding this notification.

Rhode Island’s salary history ban took effect on the first of the year. The job application in Navigator Employ has been updated to reflect this change.

Be sure to check out next week's blog because we will cover a few more of the new 2023 updates.  If you have any questions, please contact support@compliancehr.com.
